ইমদাদুল হক বর্তমানে সেন্টার ফর এনভায়রনমেন্টাল অ্যান্ড জিওগ্রাফিক ইনফরমেশন সার্ভিসেস (CEGIS)-এ পাওয়ার, এনার্জি অ্যান্ড মিনারেল রিসোর্সেস ডিভিশনের একজন গবেষণা সহযোগী (Research Associate)। পাশাপাশি, তিনি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের Lamar University-তে ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ম্যানেজমেন্টে মাস্টার্স করছেন। তার গবেষণার মূল ক্ষেত্র হলো পরিবেশ সংক্রান্ত নীতি ও পরিকল্পনা, যেখানে তিনি পরিবেশগত মূল্যায়ন, প্রভাব বিশ্লেষণ এবং প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদের ব্যবস্থাপনা নিয়ে কাজ করছেন।

“আমাদের গবেষণার প্রতিটি ধাপই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ,” বলেন ইমদাদুল। “যেকোনো উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পের আগে পরিবেশের ওপর সম্ভাব্য প্রভাব বোঝা, তা নিয়ন্ত্রণের উপায় খুঁজে বের করা, এবং সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণকারীদের কাছে সঠিক তথ্য পৌঁছে দেওয়াই আমাদের প্রধান লক্ষ্য।”

নদী, শক্তি ও টেকসই উন্নয়ন

বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়নশীল অর্থনীতিতে শক্তি, পানি ও পরিবেশের ভূমিকা অপরিসীম। ইমদাদুল কাজ করছেন বিদ্যুৎ ও খনিজ সম্পদ খাতের নানান প্রকল্পে, যেখানে তিনি পরিবেশগত প্রভাব মূল্যায়ন (EIA), প্রাথমিক পরিবেশগত পরীক্ষা (IEE), সামাজিক প্রভাব বিশ্লেষণ (SIA) এবং ব্যবস্থাপনা তথ্য ব্যবস্থা (MIS) উন্নয়নের সঙ্গে যুক্ত। তিনি বিশ্বব্যাংক, এশীয় উন্নয়ন ব্যাংকসহ বিভিন্ন আন্তর্জাতিক উন্নয়ন সংস্থার সঙ্গে কাজ করেছেন, যা তার অভিজ্ঞতার ঝুলিকে আরও সমৃদ্ধ করেছে।

বিশেষ করে, পুনর্নবীকরণযোগ্য শক্তি, গ্যাস পাইপলাইন, এবং বিভিন্ন ধরনের বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র সংক্রান্ত পরিবেশগত গবেষণা তার গবেষণার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। “পরিবেশবান্ধব শক্তি ব্যবস্থাপনা এখন শুধু একটি বিকল্প নয়, বরং এটি আমাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য একমাত্র টেকসই সমাধান,” তিনি বলেন।

তরুণদের জন্য পরামর্শ: সফটওয়্যার মডেলিং ও এআই শিখুন!

বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির এই যুগে, কেবলমাত্র বই পড়ে বা গবেষণাগারে কাজ করলেই বিজ্ঞানী হওয়া যায় না—প্রযুক্তির সঠিক ব্যবহার জানা অত্যন্ত জরুরি। ইমদাদুল মনে করেন, “সফটওয়্যার মডেলিং এবং কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা (AI) এই যুগের সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী হাতিয়ার। তরুণ প্রকৌশলীদের জন্য আমার পরামর্শ হলো, যত দ্রুত সম্ভব সফটওয়্যার মডেলিং ও এআই বিষয়ে দক্ষতা অর্জন করা। এটি গবেষণা ও বাস্তব জীবনের সমস্যার সমাধানে অসাধারণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।”

তার মতে, শুধু গবেষণা করাই যথেষ্ট নয়, বরং তা বাস্তবে প্রয়োগ করা এবং সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়াও সমান গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

ভবিষ্যতের স্বপ্ন ও পরিকল্পনা

গবেষণার জগতে নিজেকে আরও উন্নত করতে এবং বাংলাদেশের পরিবেশগত টেকসই উন্নয়নে ভূমিকা রাখতে ইমদাদুল হক নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। তার লক্ষ্য উন্নত তথ্য-প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে পরিবেশগত গবেষণাকে আরও কার্যকর করা এবং বাংলাদেশকে সবুজ শক্তির পথে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া।

“আমরা যদি বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিকে সঠিকভাবে কাজে লাগাই, তবে বাংলাদেশ উন্নয়নের পথে আরও অনেক দূর এগিয়ে যাবে,” তিনি আত্মবিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে বলেন।

In Search of Sustainability: The Journey of Researcher Emdadul Haque

Amid the hustle and bustle of urban life and the complexities of research, Emdadul Haque is relentlessly working towards the advancement of Bangladesh’s environment and energy sector. Standing at the intersection of research, data analysis, and policy-making, he envisions a greener and more sustainable future for the country.

A Journey into Research

Emdadul Haque is currently a Research Associate at the Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Division of the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), a Public Trust under the Ministry of Water Resources, Bangladesh. In addition, he is pursuing a Master’s in Engineering Management at Lamar University, USA. His research primarily focuses on environmental policy and planning, where he works on environmental assessments, impact analysis, and natural resource management.
“Every step in research is crucial,” Emdadul states. “Before implementing any development project, it is essential to understand its potential environmental impact, find ways to mitigate it, and provide accurate data to decision-makers.”

Rivers, Energy, and Sustainable Development

With Bangladesh’s rapidly growing economy, the role of energy, water, and environmental sustainability is more critical than ever. Emdadul is involved in various environmental research projects, including Feasibility Studies, Initial Environmental Examinations (IEE), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Social Impact Assessments (SIA), and the development of Management Information Systems (MIS).

His work spans multiple sectors, especially renewable energy, gas pipelines, and power plants based on various fuel sources. He has collaborated with global development organizations like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, gaining valuable insights and expertise.

“Sustainable energy management is no longer an option—it is the only viable solution for our future,” he emphasizes.

Advice for Young Engineers: Master Software Modeling & AI!

In today’s world, being a scientist is not just about reading books or working in a lab—it requires technological proficiency. Emdadul strongly believes that “Software modeling and artificial intelligence (AI) are the most powerful tools of this era. My advice to young engineers is to become proficient in software modeling and AI as soon as possible. These skills play a crucial role in research and real-world problem-solving.”

He also stresses that research should not remain confined to academic papers but must be applied in real-world scenarios and presented to policymakers to drive impactful decisions.

Future Aspirations & Vision

With a passion for research and innovation, Emdadul Haque is committed to further advancing environmental sustainability and technological development in Bangladesh. His goal is to integrate advanced technology into environmental research and propel Bangladesh towards a greener future.

“If we harness science and technology effectively, Bangladesh will reach new heights in sustainable development,” he says with confidence.
